Starting running a new gambling club. What's to know?

Postby Yuri » Fri Sep 10, 2010 7:29 am

We would like to open a gaming club but we haven't decided yet in which city, but it will be in England.
There won't be alcohol, just gamimg machines.
What are we to do?
All I know is that we should get license for machines, we are to pay income tax and VAT.
How should we start organising the business? Where are we to register? What taxes are we to pay?
Could you please help me in finding out that questions?

Hi! First of all, you need to contact UK Gambling Commission to find out what type of gambling licence is suitable for you (also you can make a quote online).

And, I think they can provide the telephone numbers of gambling business advisors.

Hope that will help.

PS: I think it's not a very hard task to open a gaming club with fruit machines. Just carefully calculate your budget and insure the risks.

Thanks a lot.
I know that and already contacted this comission.
Do you know any such clubs? Could you give a link?

I don' think that a small gaming clubs with a few fruit machines have a website, even some large family entertainment centres don't have a website :) All they have is only a business listings in UK business directories (*sometimes).

For example, "Pier Family Entertainment Centre" in Norfolk, Hunstanton. They have all sorts of entertainment including a special area for fruit machines. They even have some Microgaming fruit machines (I've played there and won 40£ BTW, LOL).

The giant gaming clubs networks like Ladbrokes are everywhere in the UK, almost in every city.
